Sarah Santucci, MA, Chief Operating Officer, Co-Owner
I remember my father, former co-owner Rick Santucci, gifting a “How to” book for opening a private practice to my mother, Donna Santucci, LPC, Co-owner, for Christmas in 2003. They sacrificed much to open Keystone Counseling in June of 2004, and much more to keep its doors open during the early years, when mental health stigma or lack of insurance kept so many from treatment. During those days, I would spend my summer breaks from college doing a little bit of everything: cleaning, marketing, accounts receivables, insurance billing, client scheduling, and so on. After graduation from Temple University and Columbia University for my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I gained experience in marketing, copy writing, grant writing, and program development in both the nonprofit and for profit sectors. In 2014, after my father became ill, I came on full time to keep the day-to-day operations running, and in 2016 I became a partner and co-owner in the practice as Chief Operating Officer.
My philosophy as a leader has evolved over time, and continues to do so, but two core beliefs remain: the necessity to lead by example, and that humility is the number one attribute of any great leader. I strive to foster a team environment and organizational systems that provide consistent, quality services to our clients while also maintaining a work environment that promotes our staff’s personal and professional development. Our team is a close-knit bunch of professionals, and every member in our small practice is passionate about delivering outstanding treatment for our clients.
I dream of a day when all mental health services are free, and where there is a plethora of mental health providers in rural communities like Lock Haven. Until that day is realized, I also actively work with county commissioners, state reps, managed care organizations, local universities, the Clinton/Lycoming Joinder Board, insurance companies and other agencies to enact change that benefits not just our clients and staff, but also other mental health practices statewide.
What I love most about working at Keystone Counseling is seeing our staff's professional development, our clients' lives improve, and creating systems that allow for our providers and clients to be successful!
