Inspirational Stories of Resilience & Grit for Young Readers

Whoever reads the most in each age group by AUGUST 22 wins over $250 in prizes! All books can be found at either Ross Library in Lock Haven or Jersey Shore Public Library at no cost to participants. Prizes include:

• $25 Gift Certificate to Phil it Up
• $50 Gift Certificate to The Bus Stops Here
• A Back to School Book Bag with All the Essentials
• The Big Life Journal (a self guided journal that develops strength and adaptiveness)

Ages 5-9 Reading List

• Taking a Bath with the Dog by Scott Menchin
• A Terrible Thing Happened by Margaret M Holmes
• Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by James Dean
• My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss
• Salt in His Shoes: Michael Jordan in Pursuit of a Dream by Delores Jordan
• Fifty Cents and a Dream: Young Booker T Washington  by Jabari Asim

Ages 10-14 Reading List

Rules

• Have a guardian sign next to each book read (download list here or pick one up at the library)
• Turn in completed list to [email protected] by August 22. You can also drop off the list at Keystone Counseling or Way to Grow. Don't forget to include contact info!
• Have a book not on the list? That's fine. Just add it to the list with a sentence about how it relates to resilience, grit or adaptiveness.
